Posted On 26 Feb 2016
Delegates of the Inter American Press Association (IAPA), the Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ), the Ecuadorian Association of Newspaper Editors (Aedep) and Fundamedios yesterday began a tour in Washington where they will meet with representatives of government agencies and American officials to express their concern about the “deterioration” of freedom of press in Ecuador, according to a statement.
Today they expect to visit Secretary of the Organization of American States (OAS) Luis Almagro and Special Rapporteur for Freedom of Expression Edison Lanza.
They also have scheduled appointments with officials of the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), the State Department and congressional Democrats and Republicans.
Making this tour was one of the commitments that emerged in the Forum of Quito, organized by the SIP last year. (I)
