Transmitted to 125 countries, the ‘Avenida Brazil’ telenovela breaks records

The successful telenovela Avenida Brazil, produced by the Brazilian giant Globo, has set a record of international marketing and has sold broadcast rights to chains in 125 countries, the company informed on Thursday.

The telenovela written by Joo Emanuel Carneiro has been doubled to 19 languages and is the most successful in Brazil, surpassing the record of “Da Cor pecado”. Unlike the vast majority of the Brazilian telenovelas, Avenida Brazil focused its story on middle and lower class characters, which earned huge viewing figures in its country of origin, where it was issued in 2012.

In Brazil, the average audience was 69% of the “share” and in its last chapter broke the mark of 84% of the “share”, with more than 50 million viewers, according to the October Institute Ibope.

Globe was surprised by having succeeded in selling the series in countries such as Colombia and Mexico, which are traditional producers and strong exporters of telenovelas.
