Trial against former chancellor María Fernanda Espinosa kicks off this week
Ecuadornews:

As of this Monday (April 22, 2019), the National Assembly Inspection Commission has five days to take cognizance and begin the process of requesting impeachment proceedings against former Ecuadorian Foreign Minister María Fernanda Espinosa.
The president of the Assembly, Elizabeth Cabezas, submitted the application file last Thursday. The Law of the Legislative Function establishes five days for this process. The same regulation says that this legislative board, after starting the process, has 20 days to substantiate the case.
There are reports that have remained in legal midpoint due to lack of agreements. Cristina Reyes (PSC) and Fernando Flores (Creo), seek to challenge the ex-chancellor, among other issues, for the handing over of the Ecuadorian nationality to the Australian hacker Julian Assange, who lost political asylum on April 11.
The application was submitted 11 months ago. (I)
