Turkey Threatens Syria with Actions for Striking a Jet

Turkey F4 knocked down by Syrian forces
This Saturday Syria informed it shot down a Turkish reconnaissance plane, because the aircraft entered its airspace. This action tenses the desperate violence in the country, now Turkey threatened to retaliate, however it did not said what action it would take as it searched for the two missing pilots.
The downed plane increases the delicate situation between two countries due to the increasing violence bleeding outside its borders. Since the 15-month Syrian insurrection began, Turkey has become one of the strongest critic’s of Syria’s regime.
The plane, an unarmed F-4, went down in the Mediterranean Sea about 13 km from the Syrian town of Latakia. Syria claimed that the jet violated its air space over territorial waters; the Syrian forces realized too late it was a Turkish jet after firing at it. (AV)
