U.S. Leaving Air Base in Pakistan
The United States is vacating an air base in Pakistan due to the Islamabad’s petition after a NATO attack that killed two-dozen Pakistani soldiers.
U.S. Ambassador, Cameron Munter confirmed to Pakistan’s WAQT TV that the American soldiers are leaving the Shamsi Air Base in Balochistan Province at the southwest of Quetta.
U.S. and Pakistani officials informed last Friday 02 of December that there was some communication between the two sides before the November 26 strike. A Pakistani military spokesman pointed out the attack struck the wrong target.
Pakistani Foreign Minister Hina Rabbani Kahr said “Such attacks… demonstrate complete disregard for international law and human life.” Kahr asked the United States to leave the Shamsi Air Base within 15 days. (AV)
