U.S. reaches extreme cold record

The climate that presents the United States is marking a milestone in its history. In the city of Chicago, this week marked 50 degrees and for the first time was declared a “state of calamity” and it recommends that people stay in their homes.

Also, Washington is experiencing the coldest day in four decades, to the point where people say that if hot air released water turns to ice. The temperature will drop to 20 degrees below zero, something that in 40 years no one had met before in Washington.

According to studies, this intense cold wave caused by a “polar vortex” will reach its peak between tonight and tomorrow. This polar vortex is a cyclone of very cold air usually located in northern Canada, which these days is moved to the south accompanied by strong gusts of wind.

In Minnesota, its thermometers marks down to -48 degrees, while Detroit recorded 37 degrees below zero.

this phenomenon caused the paralyzation of classes in thousands of schools, 4,000 flight cancellations, more than 9,000 delays, thousands of blackouts, and more than a dozen deaths , directly or indirectly, in addition to affecting 140 million people in 26 states were closed.
