UK Investigates People Involved with London 2012

Safety Regulations for the London 2012 Olympic Games
The British newspaper “The Guardian” revealed on Wednesday that the British police and MI5 secret service is investigating nearly 500,000 people who will be related to the 2012 London Olympics, from workers at the facility, to athletes and coaches of over 200 countries competing.
The Ministry of Interior has already denied about 100 accreditations for the Olympics in an research process of personal data. The majority of accreditations refusals are directly relevant to the criminal records of those affected.
The inquiry process began last October and has already completed two thirds of it; the procedure is scheduled to be completed in the coming weeks.
The 70,000 volunteers recruited by the London Organising Committee of the Olympic Games (LOCOG) to participate in security checks at the entrance to the stadiums, are also being submitted to investigations. (MZ)
