While Pyongyang said the nuclear test is only a “first response” to what they considers U.S. threats, and warned that it will continue with “second and third strongest measures,” but did not elaborate.
The U.S. president, Barack Obama said that nuclear tests “do not make North Korea more secure” On the contrary, said the North Korean government has “isolated and impoverished his people increasingly due to their reckless search weapons of mass destruction,” he said in a statement.
For its part, the Security Council of the United Nations held an emergency meeting to discuss the possibility of new sanctions against North Korea. Following the underground test, which generated strong seismic waves, caused the immediate condemnation from the United Nations and other countries, including its ally, China, who called the North Korean ambassador to admonish him.
