Unasur Suspended Paraguay until Next Elections

Timerman said that Unasur also suspends Paraguay
Members of the Union of South American Nations (Unasur for its Spanish acronym) decided today at the summit, held in the city of Mendoza, Argentina, that Paraguay must be temporarily suspended from Unasur until new elections in that country.
The decision, announced by the Argentine Foreign Minister Hector Timerman, fulfills the resolution adopted earlier by Mercosur, which also suspended Paraguay until the elections next year.
“Today, male and female heads of States of Unasur also agreed to suspend the membership of Paraguay (in the block) until democratic order is restored in that country”, said Timerman when reporting the outcome of the summit. (MZ)
