University students do not recognize the triumph of Lenin Moreno and ask for a recount

The Federation of University Students of Ecuador joins the request to recount all votes and thus put an end to the protests in the streets.

Andrés Quishpe, national president of the student union, yesterday showed in Guayaquil a letter addressed to the National Electoral Council in which they refer to what is stipulated in section 141 of the Code of Democracy and ask the plenary of the aforementioned agency to authorize the opening of the ballot boxes. “We do this in view of the denunciations of various sectors about irregularities in the electoral process,” said the leader.

Quishpe, along with other student leaders from Guayas, Esmeraldas, Cotopaxi and other provinces, will maintain their presence in the streets until their request is met. They clarified that the Federation does not recognize Lenin Moreno as the elect president of Ecuador since the electoral process “still does not end” as the stage of challenges is still ongoing.
