The alleged phone calls made from the deceased journalist Fausto Valdiviezo, made the day he was murdered had no relation to the calls made that day by the suspects of the murder.
On April 11, Valdiviezo made two calls between 14h00 and 22h15, and received 13. Meanwhile around 09h28 and 23h15. Aida D, one of the detainees telephoned 19 people including Ingrid Leon, Jose Rock and Jazmin F., who are currently being investigated for the death of the journalist.
However Julio Cesar Cueva, attorney of the Valdiviezo family, said the only relationship possible is the coincidence of the location and time the calls were carried out. Cueva denied that the five detainees have some relationship with Fausto Valdiviezo. “The Ministry of Interior (Jose Serrano) had a slip in speaking of their unusual relationship,” said the lawyer. However, last week during an interview to a news channel Serrano said he was not referring to any criminal relationship.
The record of the calls was requested by the Prosecution and as stated in the prosecution opened for nine days. The prosecution has 80 days to file an indictment and request the initiation of the trial phase. The Valdiviezo family is waiting to have more evidence against detainees to analyze if filing a prosecution complaint or not.
