Victims of the Cruise “Costa Concordia” Sinking Increase
The luxury cruise ship “Costa Concordia“, which sank on Saturday in front off the Italian island of Giglio has left six people dead and 15 missing. The sixth mortal victim was found Monday morning on the second bridge of the boat and was wearing a life jacket.
The search for survivors from the wreck of the luxury cruise ship was suspended on Monday due to bad weather, the ship moved nine inches.
“The body of the sixth person who died is still on board,” said Coast Guard Chief Rodolfo Raiteri. “We have to wait until the ship regains stability to start again operations,” he added.
The cruise had 4,229 people on board, including more than 3,200 tourists from 60 different nationalities and a thousand members of the crew. More than 4,000 evacuees were transferred on Saturday from the island of Giglio to the port of Santo Stefano, and then returned to their places of origin.
