Website will Streamline Paperwork to Banana Exports
From March 19, bananas exporters in Ecuador will have to enter their shipping plans through a website, which will be updated daily.
The announcement was made by Alfonso Roggiero, director of Banana Unit of the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, Aquaculture and Fisheries (MAGAP for its Spanish acronym) and aims to track information about traders in real time.
About 200 people were trained on the computer system Unibanano-that way, employers no longer have to carry any physical documents MAGAP office, where until recently were made with manual records and data that is updated every week.
“It’s a non-papers system. Exporters will be able to enter only with producers who have contracted with this fruit,” said Roggiero.
Tomorrow will be repeated in the Provincial MAGAP in El Oro, and on Thursday will be held at the Directorate of the Ministry in Los Rios. Although the plan officially governed zero papers next week, today the banana shipment information will be uploaded to the Web sites of the National Customs of Ecuador (Senae for its Spanish acronym).
