Yesterday at 06:30 in the parish Turi, at Cuenca, a wildfire reached the candle factory “Asunción”.

Yesterday morning, at 06:30, a wildfire burned  the candle factory “Asunción” located in Turi, Cuenca.

The factory owner, Mauricio Mora and his wife Rosalia, along with more family members and neighbors tried to put out the fire using ten extinguishers and wet blankets.

“Nothing could be done, since the flames were intense and the extinguishers did not help much,” said Aida Mora, aunt of the owner.

Firefighters attended the emergency and after several hours of work, they managed to control the fire, but it had consumed the entire cement structure and the ardex roof. (MZ)
