WMO Sees Possibility of El Niño in 2012

El Niño phenomena has been associated with heavy rains in Ecuador and northern Peru.
The World Meteorological Organization (WMO) reported today that between July and September this year, suitable climatic conditions for the development of El Niño, can be given.
El Niño is characterized by unusually warm ocean temperatures in central and eastern equatorial Pacific and has been associated with droughts in Australia, Indonesia and northeastern South America with heavy rains in Ecuador and northern Peru. (MZ)
