Women from 21 to 40 are the target of violence

Domestic violence is particularly prevalent among a group of women. A seven-year study conducted by Fundación de Paz y Esperanza (Peace and Hope Foundation for its Spanish name) reveals that women between the ages of 21 and 40 are the most vulnerable to abuse by their partners.

Between 2009 and 2016, the institution has assisted more than three thousand people, victims of family violence, in Guayaquil. They have come from different corners of the city, but 41% from peripheral areas. Another 37% came from downtown neighborhoods, neighborhoods and urbanizations in the north of the city, and 12% from other towns, such as Duran or Naranjal.

The Foundation, which provides legal, psychological and Christian assistance, determines that in 51 cases women aged 31-40 are the ones who suffer most in due to lack of education and their own income.
