Women’s literary voices from Ecuador go to the Bogota International Book Fair
Ecuadornews:
The literature made by Ecuadorians will shine again this month. Several authors of the country join the long list of international guests of the thirty-second edition of the International Book Fair of Bogotá (FILBo), considered one of the most important literary meetings in the region.
This year’s event, which yesterday opened its doors, commemorates the consolidation of the 200 years of the Republic. Therefore, the guest country is Colombia, which will have an extensive pavilion with a program that seeks to “generate a space in which we will give prominence to the words of the peoples, of those men and women who participated in that construction and who they gave life to this new model, “said Enrique González Villa, executive president of the Colombian Book Chamber.
Countries such as Argentina, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Cuba, Ecuador, Spain, the United States, France, Guatemala, Italy, Mexico, Peru, Portugal and, for the first time in the event, Abkhazia participate in the event.
Among the names that appear as star guests of FILBo are those of the Ecuadorian María Fernanda Ampuero (Joaquín Gallegos Lara Award 2018) and Mónica Ojeda (selected as one of the most important literary voices in Latin America in the Bogotá39 list of 2017). Both novelists managed to locate themselves in the international focus by occupying a place in the lists of recommendations of important media such as El País in Spain and The New York Times.
Other names such as the writer, illustrator and graphic designer María Fernanda Heredia and the promoter of cultural initiatives linked to reading, books and children, Emilia Andrade, also take a stroll on the FILBo guest list, where they will participate in talks, as well as presentations of his works.
The novelist from Guayaquil, Raúl Vallejo, is another guest at this meeting, which is expected to run until May 6 at the Corferias campus in Bogotá. (I)
