Ecuadornews:
The criminal court of Loja, in charge of Judge Jose Luis Pallares, confirmed Thursday the innocence of 10 of the defendants in the “29 de Saraguro” case, “because there was virtually no evidence to condemn them,” said Vicente Vivanco, one of the lawyers of the Indigenous.
Vivanco says he is satisfied because it has been ratified “that this was a political persecution and there was no evidence to condemn our comrades,” he said.
The defendants were accused of obstructing public services, as a result of being arrested on August 17, 2015, when there were clashes between hundreds of anti-riot police agents and protestors. (I)
