16 Ecuadorian girls Received Awards in the U.S.
Five international awards totaled 16 students from two branches of Yesenea Mendoza Arts Center.
These children and adolescents participated last March 10 in the competition called International All Star Championship 2012 in Orlando, Florida (United States).
The “Latinas” group, composed of the arts center “preminicuerpo” from the south of the city, and the Huancavilca Foundation “preminicuerpo”, achieved the world championship with a choreographed jazz, in the children category.
“Tribal” group dance of the institution located in the south reached the world championship in the junior category with an African jazz dance.
The second place in the junior category, jazz gender, was for the “Rockets” group, from the arts center located in the south of Guayaquil. “Comandos” group, a downtown branch of Yesenea’s school, was in the same post, but in hip hop style, senior category.
Finally, the “minicuerpo Balletement” won the fourth place in the junior category of the hip hop genre.
Teachers Johanna Coloma, Hida Jama and Vanina Ortega prepared for two months the students who attended the competition in the U.S.
The access of the girls and young dancers at that particular competition was because they were the winners of the local competition The Dance Experience Weekend RMU held last November in Guayaquil.
“It’s their first competition abroad and they have developed a great role because with their overseas debut they have reached the top prize and that means that both the girls and their families and El Guasmo neighborhood achieved a huge self-esteem because they will realize that they can achieve whatever they want, “said Yesenea Mendoza dancer.
