2 400 kilometers of roads will be awarded to private companies in four years

In four years, 2,400 kilometers of road will be granted to the private sector. That is the goal of the Ministry of Transport and Public Works (MTOP) that has developed a model of road network management for road maintenance. The country has a state network of 9,791 kilometers, of which 1,137 were built during the 10-year administration of former President Rafael Correa.

Up to this moment, two roads have been awarded: Rumichaca-Riobamba and Rio Siete-Huaquillas. Five more are currently in the awarding process. A total investment of USD 2 billion is envisaged. (I)
