2011 Pan American Games: Gold Medal for Ecuador in Weightlifting
Today the Ecuadorian weightlifter Jorge David Arroyo, 20 years, won a gold medal for his country in the 2011 Panamerican Games in Guadalajara, Mexico after lifting a total of 395 kilos (185 in snatch and 210 in clean and jerk).
Arroyo has won three gold medals at the World Junior Championship in Malaysia, today he lifted a total of 395 kilos (185 in snatch and 210 in clean and jerk), which exceeded the 15 kilos that the Venezuelan lifted.
In the female division, Ecuador also won its third gold medal in weightlifting.
Seledina Nieve Arroyo managed to take the first place in the podium of the Panamerican Games in the trial of more than 75 kg Weightlifting. Seledina, 33, lifted 258 kg, leaving behind the Venezuelan Yaniuska Espinoza (245) and Mexican Tania Mascorro (244).
