Public Workers forced to Resign due to a Presidential Decree
Today in Guayaquil, Portoviejo, Cuenca, Loja and in other Ecuadorian cities hundreds of public officials received a notification telling them that their employment contracts ended.
The notifications were delivered because the Executive Decree 813 signed by president Rafael Correa on July 7, amending the Regulations of the Public Service Act establishing a figure called mandatory withdrawal purchase for public workers.
At least 200 doctors at the Hospital of Guayaquil received this morning the notification.
About 30 doctors and employees were asked to resign their posts at the Baca Ortiz Hospital in Quito.
About 40 officials from the Ministry of Labor Relations Bureau in Guayas were notified of their resignations.
There are at least 60 officers dismissed from their public duties in Portoviejo (Manabi).
In order Loja about 100 health officials and workers from the institutions of governance were asked to leave their posts.
In Machala (El Oro), about 60 doctors and hospital workers at Machala Teofilo Davila received were asked for their voluntary resignation.
The measure would cover about 3,500 public employees, according to television channel Teleamazonas.
