21 New Judges in the Ecuadorian Court of Justice

The list of winners of the new judges of the National Court of Justice was read in less than two minutes. Twelve men and nine women reached the court after competing nearly five months among 666 participants.

Among the list of the 21 new judges are Carmen Salgado, mother of the Interior Minister, Jose Serrano, and Wilson Andino, brother of the assemblymen Mauro Andino. In the list there are only two people from Guayaquil, most of its members come from the highlands. Almost everyone has some experience in the judicial works, many have been judges, temporary judges or prosecutors. The new court of justice would rule until 2012.

The new judges:

Carlos Ramirez, current president of the National Court of Justice. Ramirez has been temporary judge, magistrate of the extinct Supreme Court of Justice.

Oscar Bermudez has 14 years in the judicial process. He was state judge in Azogues, he has also been a judge in Azuay and Cañar.

Vicente Robalino, was a judge of the Criminal Chamber of Baños and a judge of Penal Guarantees.

Alfonso Granizo, is a provincial judge of Pichincha in the First Division of Labor, Children and Adolescents.

Alvaro Ojeda Hidalgo, works in CNT.

Jose Suing Nagua, is a judge in the National Court of Justice and a teacher in Universidad Andina.

Jorge Blum Carcelen, is a Fiscal agent of the Attorney General of Guayas.

Wilson Merino Sanchez, is a prosecutor of El Oro since 2008, and also an specialist in Penal Rights and Indigenous Justice.

Merck Benavides: Is the current Attorney of Imbabura.

Wilson Andino Reinoso, has been a judge and a rapporteur in the Chimborazo Court.

Johny Aylluardo, is a lawyer and professor in the Attorneys School of Universidad de Guayaquil since 2004.

Paul Iñiguez Rios worked with Alberto Acosta in the Assembly and afterwards with Fernando Cordero.

Maria Merchan Larrea, was a judge Minister of the First Civil Chamber of the Provincial Court of Azuay.

Maritza Perez Valencia is a lawyer and master in Economic Rights.

Maria Espinoza, was a judge in Gualaceo.

Carmen Salgado is a judge and has several jurisprudence titles.

Gladys Teran, was president of the Third Criminal Court of Pichincha between 2007 and 2011.

Maria Paulina Aguirre, was secretary of the Pichincha Court Presidency.

Ma. Ximena Vintimilla, worked for Gustavo Jalkh who now is president Correa’s secretary.

Mariana Yumbay, was a judge of Criminal Traffic Guarantees of Bolivar.

Lucy Blacio Pereira works in Anti Corruption Council Participation.
