26,379 teachers will be reclassified, said the Minister of Economy

The Minister of Education, Augusto Espinosa, submitted yesterday the results of the reclassification of teachers in the public sector. In the first year, there were 26,379 who upgraded the teacher´s scale.

Until 2013, there were 102,000 qualified teachers eligible to apply for reclassification, of whom 53,985 performed the evaluation.

The process, according to the Ministry, was in charge of the National Institute for Educational Evaluation (INEVAL for its Spanish acronym). Those who reach the required scores will be reclassified from January 2015. This change will also increase their salaries.

Those appearing on the category A will have a salary of $ 1,676, in the B, the compensation was set at $ 1,412 for the C, $ 1,212, while the D will receive a salary of 1,086, the E and F will earn $ 986. In the category G remuneration was set in $ 901 and the H $ 817.

Teachers who were not reclassified may also appeal the results until December 22 of 2014, concluded Espinosa.
