30-S: Carrion Case is being Analyzed by the Second Criminal Chamber
Coronel Cesar Carrion and police officers, Luis Martinez, Jaime Vinicio Paucar and Luis Bahamonde await today the decision of the 3th Criminal Chamber regarding the appealing hearing. Carrion and the officers are accused of trying to murder the Ecuadorian President Rafael Correa during the police insurrection of 30-S.
Last night judges Eduardo Ochoa, Jose Miguel Roldan and Fausto Vazquez informed that they will pass the sentence today at 16:00 (local time). Meanwhile Carrion’s attorney, Stalin Lopez, added that with this decision the continuity and celerity of the process is being broken.
The appealing hearing began yesterday at 09:00 and for three hours the D.A. Enriquez exposed the same evidence against the accused, evidence that was used in the past trial of May, were Carrion, Martinez, Paucar and Bahamonde were declared not guilty. The use of past evidence caused contempt from the accused since according to the law it cannot be used. (AV)
