A year has passed since the police insurrection and several reports of two elite police groups GOE and GIR (for their Spanish acronym) contradict the statements of the Armed Forces. Military reports state that the rebel police forces wanted to attempt against president Correa.
Both police groups GOE and GIR received different orders from their superiors; however, both were supposed to evacuate the president. When they reached the hospital the rebel policemen attacked them, a few moments later 900 soldiers arrived and the crossfire started.
When the president was finally evacuated the death toll of that day was two military officers, two policemen and one civilian that perished on 30-S. The court has yet to clarify those crimes. (AV)
