30S Commemorative Activities Began with a Mass
Posted On 30 Sep 2011
From 10:00 am today President Rafael Correa began the activities to commemorate those killed during the police riot of September 30, 2010.
This morning he attended a Mass at the Cathedral of Quito, where he reminded the five deaths that left a chaotic Thursday last year, when police began a protest because of the removal of their economic incentives.
The religious ceremony was celebrated by Catholic Bishop René Coba. The Mass was attended by the ministerial cabinet, the president of the Assembly, Fernando Cordero, and the military leadership, headed by General Ernesto Gonzalez.
In his homily, Monsignor Coba called for peace and dialogue so that these events do not recur.
