Planting waters, from Brazil; Recycling bus, from Chile; Water sowing, from Colombia, Greenway, from Mexico; And the use of banana rachis fibers in the manufacture of concrete, from Ecuador. These are five of the 31 environmental initiatives that were selected as finalists in the Latin American Green Awards.
The exhibition of these projects will be held from August 22 to 24, and the awards in one of the halls of the Hilton Colon Hotel, representatives of the contest informed yesterday.
Of the 31 finalists, three are from Ecuador: two from Guayaquil and one from Cañar. These initiatives were selected out of a total of 2,409 projects from 679 cities in 36 countries. There are ten categories: human development, social inclusion and inequality reduction, solid waste management, responsible production and consumption, water, urban management, energy, sustainable finance, and oceans (I).
