35,374 policemen will safeguard the country during the holidays
The National Police announced a national contingency plan to ensure peaceful coexistence during the new years eve holidays. The entity will increase the presence of police officers to maintain the public order and thus avoid situations that generate crime and road accidents.
35,374 uniformed (629 chiefs, 1,995 officers, 30,270 policemen and 2,480 applicants) will be distributed throughout the country to provide safeguard for the five-day holiday.
Furthermore, 1,129 light vehicles, 83 heavy vehicles, 1,329 motorcycles, 19 cranes, 15 mobile units, 7 helicopters, 2,233 radios, 3,611 cones and 41 tents will be available for citizen service.
It was also announced that the circulation of heavy transport (trucks, tankers and trailers), will be restricted on Sunday January 4th, from 12:00 until 21:00.
