Vinicio and Fernando Alvarado are going unnoticed in Odebrecht’s horrifying tangle with the Ecuadorian state. And the truth is that they should not, because they also have a part of that cake.
The Alvarado brothers, czars of the millionaire propaganda and publicity contracts of the government, will have to explain, sooner or later, the sponsorship granted by the corrupt Brazilian construction firm for the realization the documentary “The Royal Tour.” President Rafael Correa appears in it as a tour guide while journalist and producer Peter Greenberg travel around Ecuador.

When in March of 2016 Daily El Universo asked Fernando Alvarado, Minister of Tourism, explanations about if there was public expenditure in the realization of the Royal Tour, the official responded: “we cannot disclose this information, since it is a private project based on a private economic agreement.”

Alvarado, vulgar and arrogant, did the same his subordinate Orlando Perez did when the news of his physical assaults on a woman was published: he was too clever by half and said that this information was private and that it was not of public interest. Cheeky people: in Alvarado´s case because the expenses for two million dollars in the Royal Tour, according to data never denied by the government, were covered by private companies.
How to pretend that what a President does, even if it is paid by private companies, is not of public interest? Where did the private thing end and the public begin in this matter?
