61% of Ecuadorian companies perform social work
According to the corporate responsibility report of the international consulting firm Deloitte, in Ecuador 61% of firms practice some kind of social work. 22% works on a strategy and only 17% do not intend to develop that field.
Of 110 managers surveyed, only the 5% of companies do not see credits in social policies. 40%, however, believes that exercises of social responsibility are closely linked to the economic growth of a business.
The same report shows that 47% of respondents invests 5% of their budget, but less than 7% spent 20% or more of their resources.
An example is the Toms shoe company, which in 2006 created the brand Tomorrow Shoes with one goal: to donate a pair of shoes to needy children for every pair sold in their stores. Up to date, they have delivered 35 million pairs of shoes in communities in Guatemala, Haiti, Paraguay, Argentina and other 61 countries. At the moment the Ecuadorian scenario is being studied so the contribution also gets here.
