628 People Suspended from their Jobs Due to Corruption in Petroecuador

Public Petrol Company Petrocuador suspended 628 people today from their jobs, due to accusations of corruption in the comercialization and transportation of fuel, Reuters informed today.According to reports, the employees were accussed of having done a contract on 2005 without the proper company contest with Petroecuador, claiming an emergency existed when that wasn’t the case.creating a company called Gaspetsa to commercialize supplies for fishermen. Apparently, they would even be building a hotel in Esmeraldas with the income of this business, according to the news on Ecuavisa.
Manuel Zapater, President of Petroecuador, affirms: “We’ve asked the authorities to notify the people involved with a request of suspension of their labor and we’ve given the workers enough times to exercise their right to defense”.
The definite dismissal of the employees is in the hands of the authorities, who will have to analyze the particular situation of each one of them.
