70 US government websites were attacked by Anonymous

Posted On 07 Aug 2011

Anonymous, a group of “hacktivists”, has entered into about 70 webpages from government agencies. Anonymous has stolen more than 10GB of email addresses and credit cards data. Most websites attacked, belong to organizations in southern and central United States.

A statement from this group says the “hackers” expect the attacks “to demonstrate the inherently corrupt nature of the security forces”, because they “have an ability to scare communities.”

They also claim they will publish “a massive amount of confidential information that will surely humiliate, discredit, and incriminate police officers across America.” (BG)
