70,000 Students From Guayaquil Receive Free Books

70,000 pupils from 130 public and charter schools, located in urban and rural areas, will receive more than 190,000 free books.

Thanks to the municipal program “Más Libros Bachillerato,” the mayor of Guayaquil, Jaime Nebot Saadi, made the symbolic delivery of the free books to several delegations of the beneficiary schools yesterday. The ceremony was held in the auditorium of the colegio Americano (American School of Guayaquil), where texts of Literature, Mathematics and History are being distributed since yesterday.

Students attending eight and ninth grade will receive three books, while the tenth grade students will receive two.

Mayor Nebot said in his speech that in the next 15 days, there will be published regulations of the “Jóvenes ejemplares” program, which will reward the best students from high school with 250 concrete houses, 2.500 laptops and 10.000 free Metrovía tickets.
