$ 880 million will be allocated for social gaps
The 2016 proforma budget, which will be discussed this week in the Assembly, recommends using $ 880 million for the shortening of social gaps.
According to Virgilio Hernandez, president of the _ Commission for the Economic Regime of the legislative branch, the table took more than six hours to verify if the proforma of the Executive branch met the conditions to achieve the Plan of Good Living.
The proposal is to allocate $ 483.4 million to initiatives for gender equality. This is the highest amount for the identified gaps. Although this is the recommendation, identified projects do not reach those amounts.
In the Annual Investment Plan two specific works for equality are identified. The Ministry of Justice will implement, for example, a program for the strengthening of protection and assistance centers for victims of domestic violence and sexual exploitation. The budget is 3.1 million.
The National Institute of Statistics and Census (INEC) will use about one million dollars for the survey on family relationships and gender violence against women.
The authorities recognize that each portfolio of the state will execute several programs that fit the policies to eradicate inequality. Older adults are also a priority, 281.9 million dollars must be allocated for them.
For Inclusion Ministry will use 18 million for an integral care program for the disabled. The National Council on Disability Equality, however, will use $ 561,041 to implement a public policy of nondiscrimination.
