Vanguardia Will Circulate in January

Posted On 21 Dec 2010

The Trusteeship “CFN-AGD No más impunidad” stopped the circulation of the magazine this month. Journalistic activities are not possible since the day of the incident because of the lack of working tools. However, the journalists have been using their personal belongings to continue writing.

On Wednesday Vanguardia’s offices will possibly move to a house in the downtown of Quito with the new equipment that is being procured. However, restart the design system will take “a couple of days,” said Juan Carlos Calderón, editor in chief. So the publication will normally be published in January 3rd.

Managers from Editorial Gran Tauro –Editor Company for Vanguardia – believes that the recovery of computers remains as the most sensitive part of the process. Managers from Vanguardia want to be sure that the Government “did not handle the hard drive of any machine.”

The manager of the magazine, Luis Zumárraga, said that the seizure was caused for a research that the magazine was making of an alleged government corruption case.

The Public Prosecutor Office is obliged to investigate and verify the case, and then file the indictment. Yesterday, three days after the Trusteeship implemented the seizure, the magazine received the citation payment of $ 14,560.
