With tax resolution, Patricio Pazmino (R),must attend an arraignment hearing when the National Court set time and date

The Ecuadorian Attorney General’s Office opened a new stage of preliminary investigation against Patricio Pazmiño, president of the Constitutional Court (CC); Arturo Larrea, former secretary of the agency; Alfredo Larrea, National Brewery attorney and Roberto Jarrin, legal representative of that company.

Cesar Morales, deputy attorney general, asked the president of the National Court of Justice (NCJ) by an Order issued last December 5th, to set the date and time of the arraignment hearing that shall be held within five days, from its sign.

The document issued states: “Once investigative acts have been performed in the pretrial stage of preliminary investigation, this Office considers that the wording of the provisions of Article 217 of the Criminal Procedure Code, have gathered sufficient information to allow us to assume the existence of an offense against public administration (…)”.

The cited article reports: “When the prosecutor has the necessary and sufficient information basis to infer a complaint he will send to the room draws the petition to the Judge Criminal Guarantees, in order to determine date and time for an arraignment hearing (…)”.
