More about Pope Francis
Journalists Sergio Rubin and Francesca Ambrogetti published in 2010 the book-interview entitled ‘The Jesuit’ and according to critics the most intimate chapter is the one called ‘I also like the tango. There, the then Archbishop of Buenos Aires, Jorge Mario Bergoglio, addresses a variety of subjects.
Once the authors told him that they would ask him a list of questions about his daily life, his tastes, affections and customs, the current Pontiff replied conditionally and with irony: ” Yes, but nothing of the Corín Tellado type”.
In some of his answers, Bergoglio, head of the Jesuits, says he prefers read the news from the newspapers, because the turns on the radio when he wantd to listen to classical music, and that he takes the subway always because it’s faster but he prefers the bus, because he can see the street.
Journalists also decided to ask if he ever had a romance, to what he replied Yes, but the courtship had to end because he discovered his religious vocation.
Among other things, as answer to the question Do you like the Tango? Pope Francis said that he liked it very much and that their favorite performers are Carlos Gardel, Julio Sosa and Ada Falcón, who later became a nun.
After having confessed to love reading, he was asked if he had read Borges, he replied: “what to say, Borges had the genius of talk practically about anything without bragging. He was a very wise man.”
Because of their response the authors chose to remind him that Borges was an agnostic to what Francisco simply replied: “an agnostic who every night prayed the Lord’s prayer, because he had promised it to his mother, and who died with religous assistance”.
