CNE give candidates more time for sectionals

CNE
During a meeting in Portoviejo, the assembly of the National Electoral Council (CNE) decided last Thursday to extend the schedule of registration of candidates for the local elections of February 23, 2014.
Through their official website, the agency explained that the enrollment will begin on October 18 and end on November 21 at 18:00. The modification will not affect the normal development and implementation of the electoral calendar.
The CNE website added that the resolution is due to the complexity of the electoral process in which 5621 officers will be elected: 221 mayors, 46 prefects and vice prefects, 868 urban councilors, 437 rural councilors and 4049 vocal rural parish.
This argument was presented by the Main Assembly of CNE to provide a greater ease and time to political organizations ensuring the implementation of their rights so they can meet the requirements of the Act.
