125 years of the Birth of Charles Chaplin, the silent film star

Sir Charles Spencer “Charlie” Chaplin, born on April 16, 1889, England,  was an actor, composer, comedian, writer, and director who gave birth to the famous character Charlot, in the silent era, becoming the most  recognized filmmaking artist worldwide.

Of humble origin, his parents were also related to the world of entertainment, so Chaplin made ​​his debut in street theater at the age of 5. At age 23 he achieves to travel to the United States with his theater company, Fred karno, which augurs him the success after playing the famous Charlot in “Earning bread”, in 1914.

Charles Chaplin received two honorary Oscar awards and was also nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize in 1948. He was awarded with the Order of the British Empire in 1975. Chaplin died on Christmas Day 1977 while he slept.
