More than a hundred members of Boko Haram were murdered
According to political sources and residents of the state of Borno, last Wednesday neighborhood defense groups killed between one and two hundred members of the Islamist extremist group Boko Haram, in a violent ambush in northern Nigeria.
Sources confirm that young people from the District of Kala-Balge in Borno, armed with bows and arrows, daggers and machetes, organized to attack members of the radical group that kidnapped more than 200 girls in a school of Chibok, same state, a month ago.
Neighborhood groups organized the offensive after learning that members of Boko Haram would attack the town of Rann, capital of the region and other nearby municipalities.
“It was a tough battle. There were hundreds of attackers who arrived in trucks and were well armed. But we won,” said one of the leaders of the local militia, Umaru Siddiq, to the news agency EFE. “I did not count the number of dead, but others who did told me they were over a hundred,” he said.
