There is a new deadline for registration of cellphones brought from abroad
The Superintendency of Telecommunications said there is a new term for users that have cellphones bought from abroad and have not legalized its situation. The deadline is until August 18.
The Superintendent of Telecommunications, Fabián Jaramillo, said that owners of cellphones that enter through international arrival halls of airports have 60 days from the date of their return to the country to register their cellphones in the phone operators. Nevertheless, he said that in cases in which the Superintendency of Telecommunications (Supertel) has found that these devices are working without passing thorugh the legal process, it has been told to the companies to notify their users to comply with the registration.
Since last week Movistar have started sending SMS to customers who are in this situation.
Jaramillo said that 4.6 billion cellphones appear in the list of models that have not gone through the technical reviews of the organism.
