Scrappage program is prepared for gas kitchens
The government is preparing a plan for the scrapping of gas stoves that will be replaced by electric induction cookers from the end of this month.
The Coordinator Minister of Production Richard Espinosa noted that users would receive some money for their used artifacts.
More details will be announced in the coming months, although the Minister said that so far there have been only approaches with other steel companies that manufacture products from the material of the kitchens.
Although the change of kitchens and their scrapping are voluntary, Espinosa stressed that the state will stop subsidizing gas to now subsidize electricity, “therefore, cooking with electricity will be cheaper”.
To encourage citizens to make the switch to induction cookers until 2018, the first 80 kilowatt hours per month that the device consumes and 20 kilowatt hours per month for electric showers will not be charged. From this date, every kilowatt will have a cost of four cents.
