Panama’s government informed on Wednesday that it has banned the arrival of travelers from Liberia, Sierra Leone and Guinea Conakry, to prevent the Ebola virus enters to the country.

“The Ministry of Health announced that from the date becomes effective a restriction to enter the country for passengers from Liberia, Sierra Leone and Guinea Conakry, or those who are proven to have visited the countries in mention during the last 21 days,” said an official statement.

The release explains that “from the date, airport personnel from other countries shall stop the course of the trip to Panama of people who within the last 21 days have been or come from Liberia, Sierra Leone and Guinea Conakry.”

The measure “was discussed with representatives of the airlines that serve the Tocumen International Airport,” which serves the Panamanian capital, “and health professionals.”

The restriction imposed from Wednesday “will continue until the aforementioned nations be declared free of Ebola virus,” said the official statement.
