Ecuador ranks first in accountability, according to Index
According to a Latin American Legislative Transparency Index 2014, the Assembly of Ecuador shares the first place with Peru regarding accountability.
The Index measures the legislative functions of Peru, Chile, Ecuador, Guatemala, Colombia, Mexico, Argentina, Bolivia and Venezuela, based on four indicators: regulations, labor, budget and administrative management, and service mechanisms, citizen participation and accountability.
Regarding normativity, Ecuador is in second place with 51%; in work of the Congress or the Assembly, it is in eighth place with 42%; on budget and administrative management in second with 36%; and mechanisms for participation, citizen service and accountability, it shares with Peru the first place with 68%.
While in legislative transparency, the ranks are: Peru 55%, Chile 53%, 49% Ecuador, Guatemala 46%, Colombia 38%, Mexico 37%, Argentina 36%, 24% and Venezuela Bolivia 21%.
