CC will analyze the ruling changes to the Constitution
The pathway for processing proposals for constitutional changes made by the Alianza PAIS (AP) ruling party block would be defined in a session of the Constitutional Court (CC) that will be installed on October 29 in Guayaquil. The judges have previously reviewed the report of the Judge Rapporteur, Wendy Molina, whose content is being kept confidential.
The ruling party suggests that the modifications are made through an amendment. The Constitution also provides reform figures (which requires a popular consultation) and a Constituent Assembly.
Among the proposed changes are: indefinite reelection, the age to be president, the roles of the Comptroller and the Armed Forces, limits on the competences of the autonomous governments and to the protective action.
Marcelo Jaramillo, Judge from CC, pointed out that the analysis will focus on the procedure to follow to give way to the constitutional changes.
