The communist guerrillas of the FARC and the Colombian government decided to resume the peace process on December 10 until the 17th.

“The delegations of the national government and the FARC, after jointly analyzing the events of recent weeks, we consider the crisis is over,” said the parties in a statement read in Havana by representatives of Cuba and Norway, guarantor countries of the process, and in the presence of the negotiators of the Colombian executive branch and the guerrillas.

In the statement was added that government delegations and the FARC considered that the “crisis is overcome.”

Peace talks in Havana were interrupted by the capture of a general, Rubén Alzate, and two companions, already released by the rebels.

Colombian President Juan Manuel Santos welcomed the decision to resume peace negotiations.

“I welcome the fact that they have reached an agreement at the Havana´s table to resume talks from December 10,” Santos said at a press conference.
