The ruling party said it agrees with the participation of the opposition in debates
The Legal Secretary of the Presidency, Alexis Mera, and the President of the Assembly, Gabriela Rivadeneira, indicated that the opposition has the right to attend the “socialization” meetings the Casual Amendments Committee performs.
Rivadeneira said that the objective of holding public hearings is that these could be spaces where those who have been related to the political project and those with opposing views can participate.
“The amendments commission will make that exercise nationwide. In this context, we guarantee the legitimacy of the horizontal debate but especially the legitimacy of the amendments committee,” she said.
Guillermo Lasso, CREO leader, attended the broadcast session which took place in Ibarra on Monday. CREO also announced it will attend to all sessions.
According to Mera, the problem is that Lasso has been used to being flattered all the time, “as he is a banker businessman.” “He has the right to attend all meetings of socialization and also people who disagree with him are entitled to discuss the bank holiday and his participation in the government of Mahuad,” he said.
