New march against the government but without a possibility for dialogue
Posted On 26 Nov 2015
Labour Minister Leonardo Berrezueta closed yesterday the possibility of a dialogue with the union leaders who called for today, at 16:00, a march towards the National Assembly in protest against the process of constitutional amendments.
Berrezueta, in his first press conference as minister marked distance with the leaders of the Unitary Workers Front (FUT), which brings together several unions, as he described them as “pseudo political leaders,” and at his discretion they manipulate their employees and pretend to “fish in troubled waters based on the elections of 2017.”
The official asked that the protests are carried out respecting public property, and said there are “tremendous” contradictions about the cause of the protest that is related to the amendments. He explained that those, in the labor issue, do not restrict workers’ rights, on the contrary, they increase rights, because in public institutions there were no unions for secretaries before.
In response, the leader Mesias Tatamuez said it´s a shame that “the minister has that appreciation when they are responsible for the labor crisis.” And he called again on workers and citizens to go to the streets, after explaining that his priority is to file the amendments and the defense of Social Security, before the electoral process of 2017.
