Since Sunday, at the close of the election, supporters of various political parties have gathered outside the National Electoral Council offices in various provinces.
Protesters rejected the delay in the release of the final results of last Sunday’s election. The electoral authorities have said that they are waiting until the 100% of the votes are counted to give the official results.

After Lasso left the concentration this afternoon, local CREO leaders and vice presidential candidate Andrés Páez encouraged their supporters to demand the second round.
Around 10:00 p.m., rain and cold dispersed a good number of people, but many decided to stay.
Among those who were there, despite not sharing the same ideology of CREO, were Carlos Perez Guartambel, leader of the Ecuarunari political movement. He emphasized that they prefer “a banker than a dictator.”

However, he clarified that the Confederation of Indigenous Nationalities of Ecuador (Conaie) would take a decision on who to support this Thursday in an Assembly.
Paez, in his speech, read the statements of President Rafael Correa and former Minister Jose Serrano, an action that provoked insults and the mockery of the demonstrators.
The counting of votes continues in the early hours of this Wednesday, February 22 and until 01:30, 98.0% of the votes have been counted.
